Full service solution provider in the rugged sensor processing domain.

Hybrid DSP is a European based specialist in rugged FPGA-based processing and data acquisition boards for demanding military, aerospace, and high-end industrial programs. Hybrid DSP, located in the Netherlands, supports tier 1 and 2 contractors in the design, production, integration and long term product and life-cycle management of high-end rugged semi-custom VPX and SOSA solutions.

Our Vision

As an established aerospace and defense electronics company, our vision is to join the industry in shaping the future of embedded systems through innovation, agility, and strategic foresight. We envision a world where our advanced electronic solutions redefine the boundaries of capabilities, ensuring superiority on land, sea and in the air and space. By leveraging breakthrough technologies and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence, we aim to set new standards, driving the evolution of defense and aerospace solutions.

Our Mission

At Hybrid DSP, our mission is to provide state-of-the-art FPGA-centric electronics solutions that ensure the safety, security, and sovereignty of nations worldwide. We are committed to delivering superior quality products and services that meet the evolving needs of our customers, while upholding the highest standards of integrity, innovation, and reliability. Through continuous development and collaboration with our partners, we strive to become a leading supplier of -open standards based- embedded solutions for European system integrators.

Who we are

Hybrid DSP was founded in 2018 and is located in Leiden, 20 minutes from Schiphol Airport Amsterdam. With more than 15 years of experience, Hybrid DSP set out to provide system integrators with an efficient, secure and scalable service for board level products that are offered as Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS). Or, frequently, board level products that cannot be provided as COTS but need to be Modified-COTS or fully custom. In VPX systems this typically involves (RF) I/O and FPGA boards. Customers wish to reduce the overhead required for ensuring compliance and compatibility with the various standards and the rest of the system; as well as development, production and product management of these application specific boards.

Hybrid DSP is a member of VITA and has been involved in the development and revision of various ANSI approved standards.

We discretely support our clients and their customers, suppliers and partners, acting as consultants from pre-sales to long-term end of life logistics.

Characterized designs backed with comprehensive understanding of how the product will behave within a given system and environment.

When it comes to RF and FPGA based processing, COTS is a lesson in compromise. Hybrid DSP's Modified-COTS optimized core designs permit a rapid, low-risk route to a customized solution that retains the TCO benefits of COTS.

Fully European based design, manufacture and support including PCB, assembly and heatframe production. Our VITA 46.11 IPMI implementation and other core IP is developed in-house, is source available and licenseable.

Successful real world programs prioritize long term availability, careful component selection, predictability, MTBF, MTTR and total cost of ownership.

Preliminary studies and de-risking exercises using existing similar platforms ensure our clients' engineers are actively involved throughout the development cycle of a Modified-COTS product.

Modified-COTS Reality Check

Modified-COTS (M-COTS) seeks to strike a balance between COTS and the fully custom engineering services route. A COTS supplier can base a solution on a proven core design with a roadmap that is common to multiple derivative M-COTS boards. The customer specific requirements are then implemented, for instance: clocks, digitizers, waveform generators, optical transceivers, cooling solution, or production cost savings.

Unfortunately, the M-COTS development aspect frequently ends up in a noman’s land lost between the COTS product sales teams, the system integration sales team and the customer’s technical groups.

The more critical and specific the M-COTS boards are to the overall success of the program, the more important it is to have the actual M-COTS development engineers involved in every step of the sales process. Ultimately, we end up missing the close detail driven collaboration between an engineering services company and the customer that outsources the custom board development. The apparent cost-savings can come at a price.

Hybrid DSP’s scalable M-COTS service ensures your sales and technical teams always have access to the most up-to-date IP, documentation, change logs, project status and dynamic risk/cost analyses. We do all of this via secure private git repositories – and yes you can submit pull-requests, too. This reduces your and our overhead, lowers risk and maximizes the efficiency of in-person or video meetings.
